The challenge
Inefficient walking routes and outdated workstations were hampering growth
Within Mechan’s warehouse, the existing layout resulted in inefficient walking routes. Consequently, processing incoming and outgoing goods took longer than desired, and it became increasingly difficult to handle the growing logistics flow in a timely manner.
In addition, the existing picking trolleys no longer met the needs of the staff. The workstations for packing orders were also in need of replacement. Mechan was therefore looking for a solution that would make both the order-picking process and the packing operations more efficient, clearer and more user-friendly.
The solution
Customised order-picking trolleys and packing tables for maximum efficiency
Together with Multitube, Mechan developed a fully bespoke solution. Based on joint sketches and an on-site analysis, order picking trolleys were designed that perfectly match the daily operations in the warehouse.
The new order picking trolleys combine a flat top section with space for bins underneath. This allows staff to collect parts in an organised manner and pick orders more efficiently. The layout is fully tailored to Mechan’s product range and working methods.
In addition to the order picking trolleys, new packing tables were also developed. These workstations make it possible to pack orders more quickly and easily, ensuring that the entire process from order picking to dispatch runs more smoothly.
