The challenge
Urgent Need for Increased Production Capacity and More Efficient Logistics
At this producer, sales volumes are rapidly increasing, resulting in an urgent need for significantly higher production capacity per hour/shift. To address this challenge, there was a pressing need for new workstations and a more efficient logistic supply of components to be assembled. The goal was to achieve a seamless production flow with a significantly shortened cycle time by adopting a one-piece flow.
Some parts are heavy and scratch-sensitive, requiring delivery from the rear. For this, we developed a special stainless steel side guide and equipped the supply beds with small plastic rollers. On the other hand, there are parts that are very light and need to be stacked in a specific way to pass over the roller tracks.
The solution
Comfortable U-shaped setup with electrically adjustable worktables.
In consultation with the customer, a U-shaped setup was chosen, where two employees work side by side. All tools, printers, and components are strategically placed within ergonomic zones.
Multitube has offered electrically adjustable worktables with an anti-reflective stainless steel top. This choice was made to prevent annoying light reflections. Additionally, the stainless steel top has the added benefit of being durable and resistant to higher impact. These workstations with electrically adjustable height are designed with ergonomics in mind, allowing employees of different heights to work comfortably.
Flexible feeding solution and expandable u-cell configuration
Behind the worktables, sturdy supply racks are equipped with various types of roller tracks and conveyor rollers. Each position is equipped with label holders on both the front and back. The U-cell is composed of modular components and can be expanded or reconfigured at a later time.

Production output per hour increased by around 30%, resulting in easily achieving the desired production volumes.
An intensive collaboration between the customer and Multitube has led to these projects being presented as a showcase for other production locations within the global manufacturer focusing on lean methodology.
